Usher Most Admires Justin Bieber's 'Excitement And Innocence'
Bieber's mentor tells MTV News the teen sensation has 'so much more in store for the future.'

With so much accomplished in 2010, Justin Bieber has certainly set the bar high for 2011. But the teen singer is already gearing up for next year. Bieber will not only release his much-anticipated 3-D flick, "Never Say Never", but he has also teased that he'd like to release an album of all-new material sometime later next year.
His mentor, Usher, thinks that at this point, the sky's the limit.
"As far as music and entertainment, that's the beginning," Usher told MTV News at Sunday's AMAs, where Bieber performed and took home four awards.
"There's so much more in store for the future, or at least there's a ton of things we can do and will, and with the support of his fans who will continue to just grow and grow and grow."
At 16, Bieber has accomplished what few manage with many more years in the music business, but Usher said he wants to ensure that Bieber doesn't stop enjoying it all as his popularity continues to grow and his schedule gets busier.
Asked what he admires most about Justin, Usher said, "His excitement and innocence in it. And I don't mean that in a light way because I think that he's absolutely enjoying every moment of it, as any young man his age would, but in a different way because [of] the hard work that has gone in and led to the dream that has become a reality. And every time you have an opportunity do something incredible, I tell him to do his best and be conscious that what you're doing today should last forever and eternity."
What did you think of Justin's AMA performance on Sunday? Tell us in the comments!

Usher's 'OMG' ' 'Kills It Every Night,' Says Tourmate Miguel
'There's so much anticipation for this song when he comes out,' Miguel says of MTV News' Song of the Year.

MTV News just named Usher's "OMG" the #1 song of 2010, and clearly we're not alone in our admiration. But what is it like to watch it performed night after night? Miguel, who is currently opening for Usher's OMG Tour gave us a little insight.
"There's so much anticipation for this song when he comes out, and he really gives the fans what they want," Miguel laughs. "He kills it every night."
Before his latest string of hits, Usher was out of the spotlight for a period of time in 2009, when he was dealing with personal issues including a divorce. Miguel finds his 2010 comeback inspiring.
"There was a period of time, when a lot of people didn't believe in Usher and thought he was finished ... just kind of going to ride off into the sunset and disappear," the up-and-coming singer noted.
With the release of Raymond vs. Raymond and its extended, companion EP, Versus, in 2010, Usher proved the skeptics wrong with chart-toppers including "OMG" and "DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love."
"He's such a tremendous example of perseverance and determination," Miguel beamed. "I was there throughout this album, so I've seen the adversity that he's had to overcome perception-wise."
MTV News' Top 25 Songs of 2010 have all been counted down. But the fun isn't over yet: We still want to see your picks in the comments below!

Avril Lavigne Says 'What The Hell' With Infectious New Single
Video for first song from upcoming album coming soon.

The wait is finally over, and all Avril Lavigne can say is: "What the Hell." That's the name of the first single from Lavigne's upcoming fourth studio album, Goodbye Lullaby, which is due March 8. The singer has been vocal about how long she's had to wait to get new music to her fans, and on the first salvo from the disc, you can almost taste her pent-up emotions.
Opening with a bouncy retro keyboard riff reminiscent of garage revivalists the Hives and some power-poppy handclaps, the song has the rousing cheerleader energy of some of Lavigne's catchiest hits. It also sounds like a declaration of independence from a former teen star who is storming back onto the scene after her first significant friction with her label and in the wake of a public divorce from ex-husband Deryck Whibley of Sum-41.
"You say that I'm messing with your head/ All 'cause I was making out with your friend," she sings in the opening lines amid a flurry of "yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah" backing chants. "Love hurts whether it's right or wrong/ I can't stop, 'cause I'm having too much fun."
The chorus explodes with a rush of big guitars and beats as she lets loose with the battle cry, "All my life I've been good, but now I'm thinkin', 'What the hell?'/ All I want to is to mess around, and I don't really care about/ If you love me, if you hate me, you can't save me, baby, baby/ All my life I've been good and now, what the hell?"
Though Lavigne has been linked to Brody Jenner — and the pair have gotten matching tattoos — she revels in her freedom in the second verse, singing, "So what if I go out on a million dates?/ You never call or listen to me anyway."
The song got its live debut on "Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve" and fans got a chance to download it for free for 48 hours after that through Lavigne's Facebook page.
Its infectious groove and peppy vibe are reminiscent of some of the Canadian singer's previous hits, most notably "Girlfriend." And while it may sound familiar to fans, Lavigne promised that the song's energy is not necessarily indicative of the rest of the material on the disc, which she described as a "departure" from her earlier work.
"This album is different. ... I'm older now, so I think that comes across in my music. It's not as pop-rock, and it's a little more mellow and it's deep," Lavigne told MTV News in November. "But my first single is very 'up' and pop-rock. The first single is very much like my older stuff, but the rest of the album is a departure."
Lullaby features production by Whibley; the singer's former guitarist, Evan Taubenfeld; and frequent collaborator Butch Walker, as well as songwriter/producer to the stars Max Martin (Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson), who co-wrote the first single.
What do you think of Avril's first single? Let us know in the comments!

Justin Bieber Tweets About His 'Fun' 2010, Prepares For 2011
'Chillin and happy. Its been a fun year with a lot of blessings,' Bieber writes on Twitter.
By Jocelyn Vena

It's been quite a year for Justin Bieber. Everywhere he went, madness ensued and he managed to go from pop newbie to legitimate superstar over the course of the past 12 months.
So, when Bieber hit Twitter this week to share some reflections about his jet-setting new life, he was quick to point out that right now he just needed some time to chill out and decompress. "Another solid day hanging with the family and friends. love the #holidays," he wrote. "New years is coming....what is gonna be your new years resolution?" He then tweeted a link to the music video for "Pray," followed by a brief message that said, "Need the rest. #grateful"
Bieber certainly deserves some rest. He's been non-stop all year: touring, releasing not one but two albums, filming his 3-D movie "Never Say Never," working with everyone from his mentor Usher to Kanye West and Raekwon, and even introducing the world to his rapping alter ego, Shawty Mane.
"Chillin and happy. Its been a fun year with a lot of blessings," Bieber wrote later on Twitter. "Some crazy rumors but so much love and memories. We r just gettin started!! So enjoy the holidays. Get crazy and have some laughs. Life is too short. At least that is what they tell me. #newyearsIsComin"
Bieber wasn't lying when he said that he was just getting started. 2011 is looking to be another crazy year for the singer. His first feature film, "Never Say Never," is set to premiere in February; he'll be back on the road with Willow Smith in the spring; and he's working on new music — including collaborations with Diddy and Rascal Flatts — that likely will be released sometime in the new year.
What are you most looking forward to from Bieber in 2011?

Michael Jackson Fans Celebrate Michael's Release With DJ Cassidy
'It was always my dream to DJ for Michael Jackson,' Cassidy says at album-release party Monday night.
By Steven Roberts

NEW YORK — Many a Michael Jackson fan lined up outside of the Roseland Ballroom on Monday night to celebrate the release of the King of Pop's posthumous Michael album. Dozens of dancers and fans filled the ballroom's floor, decked out in costumes inspired by MJ's iconic looks from throughout his esteem career. One of those fans also happened to be the evening's master of ceremonies, DJ Cassidy.
"I'm here to make the fans dance," he told MTV News. "I think that's why Michael essentially made the music. He wanted to make people dance. He wanted to make people feel the emotion he felt, and I'm here to do just that. I'm here to help the fans in the celebration of the king."
Dressed in a leather suit with a pink shirt and socks, a red bowtie and shell-top Adidas, Cassidy said that he's been a fan of Jackson for as long as he can remember. The late singer has been his inspiration in anything artistic in his life, from music to fashion.
"So much of my fashion comes from Michael," Cassidy explained. "So much of how I play music comes from how he formed his songs, how he created his sound that really inspired the way that I DJ. And really, it inspired me to want to be a DJ, to want to make people dance.
"So, when I became a DJ at the age of 10, it was always my dream to DJ for Michael Jackson," he added. "Tonight's just a small way for me to really celebrate his music."
The party's guests also included producers Teddy Riley, Eddie Cascio and Neff U, who each had a hand in producing Michael's tracks. But before he began to spin for the night, Cassidy was thinking back to the classics, particularly his favorite party song, 1979's "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough."
"You can be anywhere in the world, any city, any small town, any type of crowd, black, white, old, young, poor, rich, at any type of venue," he said. "They could be wanting to hear house music, hip-hop music, anything in between, but 'Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough' will turn that party out."

Maybe Chris made this before his Sorry 2010 apology last week. Or not. Either way, we're doing our damndest not to laugh.

Michael Jackson's 'Hold My Hand' And More Posthumous Music Videos
Aaliyah, Tupac Shakur, Elvis Presley and more late superstars have popped up in videos after their deaths.
By James Montgomery
Michael Jackson in the video for "Hold My Hand"
Photo: Sony Music Entertainment
On Thursday (December 9), the late, great Michael Jackson returned to the music-video world with "Hold My Hand," a clip from the upcoming Michael album, which pairs his vocals with production work from some of today's top producers.
And much like that album, the "Hold My Hand" video is very much a retrospective affair, loaded with triumphant MJ performance footage and uplifting imagery (smiling children, sunrises, bright blue skies), not to mention a whole lot of Akon. And while fans can debate whether the clip is a worthy addition to the King of Pop's massive music-video legacy, it certainly carries on the tradition of the posthumous video, a rather ignominious — and incredibly profitable — wing of the music-industry machine.
Yes, ever since Elvis Presley shuffled off this mortal coil, record labels have been churning out videos by deceased stars, for reasons that run the gamut from tribute to pure profit. Out of necessity (since the star is no longer with us), these videos are usually by-the-numbers affairs, full of stock footage and performance clips, the occasional use of animation and, of course, the odd celebrity cameo. More often than not, fans love them — which is why we keep seeing them. And since "Hold My Hand" has just been unveiled, we decided to take a look back at some of the most notable examples of stars who may no longer be with us, but continue to make music videos. Here's our Posthumous Playlist.
Aaliyah
She died tragically in a 2001 plane crash, but her videos kept showing up on MTV. "I Care 4 U" was a collection of clips from the Japanese anime "Macross Pluss II," which feature her as a ghostly figure. "Miss You" was a tribute vid, starting with a heartfelt monologue by DMX and featuring cameos by the likes of Missy Elliott, Lil' Kim and Toni Braxton. "Don't Know What to Tell Ya" is a combination of footage from her old videos and newly animated bits, which reimagine Aaliyah as a superhero in a skintight getup.
Elvis Presley
He died in 1977 but found chart success once again in 2002, when a remixed version of his song "A Little Less Conversation" was featured in a Nike World Cup commercial. A video, featuring performance footage of the King playing on a TV monitor (and a bunch of hyperactive dancers and models re-enacting his famous "Jailhouse Rock" video) was quickly assembled to capitalize. It was appropriately massive.
John Lennon
Murdered outside his New York City home in 1980, Lennon's (then) just-released Double Fantasy quickly rose to #1 on the album charts and even won the Grammy for Album of the Year. The follow-up, Milk and Honey, was also a hit and featured the single "Nobody Told Me," which came with a posthumous video, complete with photos of Lennon as a child, his iconic wire-frame specs and even some of his illustrations.
Nirvana
After the death of Kurt Cobain, there was no shortage of Nirvana sundry released, though the video for "You Know You're Right" — one of the last songs he recorded with the band — is the true standout, full of performance clips and backstage footage that capture the grunge icon at his most powerful, moody and, strangely enough, happy.
The Notorious B.I.G.
He was killed in 1997, but his talent — and the prodigious amount of pre-recorded material he left behind — survives to this day. There truly is no shortage of posthumous Biggie videos, though the most notable are probably the flossy, glossy "Mo' Money, Mo' Problems," Spike Jonze's riotous "Sky's the Limit" (which stars nothing but children) and "Notorious Thugz," a team up with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony that features his ghost rapping inside a studio.
Sublime
Frontman Bradley Nowell died just before the release of the trio's breakout self-titled album, and so — mostly out of necessity — Nowell (and his beloved dog, Lou) continued to turn up in the band's videos, including "What I Got," "Santeria" and "Wrong Way."
TLC
Just before the release of their 2002 album 3D, founding member Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes was killed in a car accident in Honduras. The group's two remaining members pressed on, releasing a series of videos that paid tribute to their late friend. In the video for "Girl Talk," they wear outfits emblazoned with her name, and she shows up in animated form too. "Turntable" is a more traditional posthumous clip, made up of performance footage of the trio taken from their live shows and videos.
Tupac Shakur
Unlike most late stars, Tupac left behind so much material that he never really left. The vaults were mined for more than a decade following his 1996 death, to the point where some believe he may actually still be with us. Not surprisingly, there are no shortage of posthumous music videos out there, including "I Wonder If Heaven Got a Ghetto," which picks up after he was shot (and was filmed from his "point of view"); "Changes," a solemn tribute clip made up of news footage, scenes from his videos and movies and still photos; and "Until the End of Time," a more sparse affair, featuring clips of him onstage and in the studio.
What is your favorite posthumous clip? Let us know in the comments.

Thirty years ago, moviegoers were stunned when Darth Vader revealed in "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back" that he was Luke Skywalker's father. On Tuesday (December 28), however, there was no surprise when the venerable sci-fi flick was selected by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Film Registry, according to The Associated Press.
The honor recognizes the iconic 1980 movie for being artistically, culturally or historically significant. A copy of the original film will be preserved by the registry at the Packard Campus of the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center in Culpeper, Virginia, for future generations.
"The Empire Strikes Back" was produced by "Star Wars" auteur George Lucas but directed by Irvin Kershner. It was joined by 24 other films; more than 2,500 were nominated. The John Travolta-powered disco vehicle "Saturday Night Fever," the Watergate drama "All the President's Men" and Spike Lee's biopic "Malcolm X" were among the popular titles to make the cut.
The films will be added to a library that includes upwards of 550 titles, including Lucas' "American Graffiti" and the first installment of "Star Wars." Comedies including "The Pink Panther" and "Airplane!" were also selected by Librarian of Congress James H. Billington, who has picked every film in the registry since its inception in 1989. "Airplane!" is a hilarious spoof of disaster movies that starred Leslie Nielsen, who died less than a month ago at the age of 84.

Free Jeans!
So I'm FINALLY getting around to giving away all those Gap 1969 jeans left over from my Gap party a year ago. I know, I know... no excuses as to why it has taken me so long to do this; I've just been busy, I guess. So, here's what I have:
I have nine pairs of Gap 1969 jeans, six certificates for a free pair of Gap 1969 jeans (redeemable in stores only), and one $50 gift card (redeemable online or in stores.)
All of the jeans are brand new, although they may have been tried on by someone at my party. In my opinion, they run a size too big, so if you're unsure how the new Gap jeans fit you, I'd go down a size. Please note, if you win a size that doesn't fit, I don't think you'll be unable to exchange them at a Gap store because they say "sample" on the inside tag.
A note on the jeans... I LOVE THEM. And I'm not just saying that. My favorite style is the Long & Lean, which are a wider leg/trouser-type jean. I don't have any L&Ls to give away, but you can find them in the stores. In the past year I've gone through about five pairs of them because I wear them every. single. day. No joke.
Okay, here are the style/sizes I have to give away:
Low Rise, Slim in the Hip and Thigh, Boot Cut Leg Opening
Medium Wash, Sizes:
- 26/2L (I have 2 pairs of these)
- 28/6L
- 29/8L
- 31/12L
Low Rise, Slim in the Hip and Thigh, Straight Leg Opening
Dark Wash, Size:
- 27/4
Low Rise, Skinny in the Hip and Thigh, Slim Leg Opening
Saturated Dark Wash, Sizes:
- 27/4
- 30/10
- 31/12
And now, here is how you win. First, take note of the letter that corresponds to the item(s) you want to win.
- A - $50 Gap Gift Card
- B - Gift Certificate for One Pair of Gap 1969 Jeans (I have six)
- C - Sexy Boot 26/2L (I have two pairs)
- D - Sexy Boot 28/6L
- E - Sexy Boot 29/8L
- F - Sexy Boot 31/12L
- G - Real Straight 27/4
- H - Always Skinny 27/4
- I - Always Skinny 30/10
- J - Always Skinny 31/12
Next, leave a comment with your first name and last initial and the letter(s) of the item(s) you want to win.
Example:
Susie Q.
A, B, G
Important: Make sure you enter your email address in the email address box when leaving your comment; I will be the only one who will see it and it's how I'll get in touch with you if you win; it will not appear in the comment section.
And finally, please do not write something like "A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J" or "I want to enter to win everything!" next to your name. I know you don't wear a size 2 and a size 12, so let someone who actually wears the size win. It's not nice to be a contest piggy!
Okay, so I will close comments and pick winners randomly this Thursday 12/9 in the morning.
Good luck! I hope you win!
Happy Holidays!
